About Amanda Dorn

I’m Amanda, a Member of the Western Australian Legislative Council proudly representing the Animal Justice Party.

I am a passionate advocate for animals, and I bring integrity, compassion, and unwavering determination to Parliament. My mission is simple but urgent: to give animals a political voice and push for bold, systemic change that puts their welfare first.

Compassion should never be controversial. That’s why I’m fighting for policies that protect animals, people, and our planet — together.

After graduating from Edith Cowan University, Amanda spent twenty years in real estate as a sales agent. Then, after studying for her triennial license, Amanda became a small business owner with the launch of her boutique agency specialising in property management.

Amanda was introduced to the animal protection movement after her sister was diagnosed with cancer. This led Amanda down a journey of discovering the benefits of plant-based living, and from here Amanda become a passionate vegan with a deep understanding of the cruelty inflicted on animals across Australia.

After joining the Animal Justice Party in 2020, Amanda quickly became an active volunteer — driving campaigns, supporting events, and bringing energy and focus as a WA State Committee Member.

“My journey into politics started with a deep love for animals and a growing frustration at how often their suffering was ignored. I knew change wouldn't come unless someone spoke up — so I decided to be that voice.”

Amanda was elected as a Councillor to the City of Swan in 2023, after running a grassroots campaign powered by door-knocking conversations and a commitment to putting the community first. In 2025, Amanda made history as the first Animal Justice Party MP elected to the WA Parliament.

Amanda has volunteered in her local community, including at animal sanctuaries and wildlife rescue organisations, and has fostered animals over the years. She currently shares her home with two beloved rescue dogs — Phoebe and Mr Marble.

In Parliament, Amanda’s work is grounded in the Animal Justice Party’s core values of kindness, equality, rationality, and non-violence. Amanda is leading the charge in WA to introduce Veticare – a publicly funded veterinary system – while also campaigning to end greyhound racing, protect native wildlife, and reverse species extinction.

“I will always champion policies that are driven by the belief that politics should serve the most vulnerable — not the most powerful.”

About the Animal
Justice Party

The Animal Justice Party (AJP) is Australia’s only political party dedicated to ending animal cruelty.

With Members of Parliament elected in Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria, the Animal Justice Party works across all levels of government to bring animal protection into politics.

The AJP campaigns for stronger laws to prevent animal cruelty, end industries that exploit and harm animals, and ensure the protection of native wildlife and their habitats. The AJP also recognises the deep connection between animal protection, environmental sustainability, and public health — and works to address these challenges through evidence-based policy and systemic reform.

The Animal Justice Party and its elected representatives have won life-saving reforms for animals, including increasing tougher penalties for animal cruelty, delivering protections for companion animals, securing record-breaking funding for animal rescue and care organisations, exposing cruelty in racing and farming industries, and ensuring that animal protection is enshrined in legislation.
