Molly the Greyhound

In Parliament on 19 June 2025, Amanda Dorn MLC raised concerns about the ongoing welfare of a greyhound named Molly, formerly known as Adorable Lady.

Molly is nearly nine years old, underweight, and living with long-term injuries. Despite this, she has been approved to breed for a fourth time. Amanda questioned whether the Minister for Racing and Gaming was aware of Molly’s condition, and whether it was appropriate that her veterinary clearance for breeding made no mention of her injuries.

Her question also highlighted broader welfare concerns in the greyhound racing industry. At the time of writing, seven greyhounds have died on WA tracks, with an additional ten deaths off-track and 45 dogs suffering fractures or major injuries.
