Rocky Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary
Amanda spoke in Parliament on Rocky Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary, a place of hope and compassion for some of our most iconic native animals: kangaroos, wallabies, and wallaroos.
Volunteers take in injured or orphaned animals, providing them life-saving care and the chance to return home to the wild.
Rocky Ridge is also leading the way in humane population management. In areas where urban development encroaches on habitats, the sanctuary has safely relocated kangaroos with a 100% success rate, proving translocation works. It also supports fertility control using the GonaCon vaccine — a one-time, science-backed solution that reduces population growth without the cruelty of shooting.
Amanda highlighted that Rocky Ridge works hand in hand with communities, raising awareness, educating the public, and inspiring shared responsibility for wildlife. She called for greater political, financial, and social support to expand humane population management programs, invest in wildlife corridors, and champion a future where science and compassion guide the treatment of our iconic kangaroos.
