Grants for Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Groups
In Parliament, Amanda asked the Minister for the Environment to address the urgent need for greater support for WA’s wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centres, such as Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and Rocky Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary.
She questioned what provisions are currently in place, whether the government would consider science-backed alternatives like GonaCon for kangaroo population management, and whether innovative funding ideas—such as a voluntary car registration levy—could provide sustainable resources for wildlife care.
The Minister confirmed existing grants and codes of practice but ruled out new initiatives at this stage. Amanda’s questions reflect her broader commitment to practical, evidence-based, and compassionate policies for wildlife protection. She will continue to advocate for stronger funding and smarter solutions that give animals, and the dedicated carers who support them, the resources they need to thrive.
