Burswood Park Motorplex

The WA Government has proposed building a new motorsport facility at Burswood Park, a site that sits near sensitive wetlands along the Swan River. Community members and environmental advocates have raised serious concerns about the impact the development could have on native wildlife habitats and tree canopy, bird migration corridors, and the cultural significance of the area.

On 17 June 2025, Amanda Dorn MP questioned the Minister for Transport in Parliament about the risks associated with the proposed Burswood Motorplex development.

Amanda asked whether the Minister was aware of concerns that the project could destroy important wetlands and threaten habitat critical to native species. She also pressed for clarity on whether a proper environmental assessment had been carried out — and called for the project to be paused until there is meaningful consultation with environmental conservation groups and Traditional Owners.
