Endorsing the Plant-Based Treaty

Amanda Dorn spoke in Parliament about the Plant-Based Treaty, emphasising that what we eat matters for health, the environment, and our future. Overconsumption of animal products contributes to heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic illness, while driving deforestation, climate change, and biodiversity loss.

The treaty calls for ending the expansion of animal agriculture, shifting to plant-based diets, and reforesting the planet. Amanda points out that this isn’t fringe thinking—cities, organisations, and thousands of individuals worldwide have already signed on.

In WA, she wants to see plant-based options supported through innovation grants, farmer assistance, and public health initiatives, like making plant-based meals the default in schools and hospitals. For Amanda, eating plants and planting trees is a simple but powerful way to protect people, animals, and the planet—while giving WA a chance to lead the world.
